On behalf of all of Elona's high school classmates and teammates from Valley Stream South High School, on Long Island, NY, I extend our deepest condolences to Elona's family. I went through elementary school and junior and senior high with Elona. We lived in the new suburbia begun in the 1930s. Our neighborhood had three long blocks, but we lived a couple of short-end blocks away from each other. As two dark-haired tomboys with one other active, outdoorsy girl nearby and about ten boys, we rode our bikes hard, played stick ball in the street, and softball at the elementary school ten blocks away--and we tramped in the one remaining, treed, 80' x 100' house lot.  Elona and I were enthusiastic teammates at school in every sport according to the season.   In 2009, at our Class of '59's great and historic gathering in Oceanside, NY, to celebrate our 50th year since high school graduation, Elona arrived in a stunning blue gown and had a gorgeous blond hairdo. Most of us present had not seen her for all those years nor did we know of her dentistry or her army service, as noted in her obituary. Surely she was a gentle and kind schoolmate, as her words at her yearbook picture show—wishing me "all the luck, happiness, and success in the world." She wrote, "You deserve it."  And so did she, yet she is gone from us too soon.  She was a beautiful person with a charming manner.  We all grieve for the loss to the world, no less to friends and family alike, of this patriotic and dedicated woman.

Dear Family of Elona,

We met Elona over a decade ago when our church sponsored a family of refugees to help them get resettled in this country.  Elona gave free dental services to this family of fifteen persons. She did this after hours on her own time.  What a generous act of Christian charity. She was a caring person who will greatly be missed.  Her actions spoke louder than her soft spoken words.  May God bless you all at this time and give you peace.

It is with a grieving heart that I hear of Elona's death. Always a good friend, she was so very generous with her assistance, and ever-ready smile. My love to Ellen & Gail.

Elona was a passionate clinician with deep compassion for the individuals she served.  She was also a wonderful colleague.  Technically excellent skills bonded to a heart of gold, she impacted many in our field of dentistry, especially those who are called to treat individuals with mental disabilities.  I know she will certainly be hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Elona and I worked together at Brook Run. She was loved and respected by the nurses and the children with whom she gave such loving care.

Elona was devoted to her family and church.

Elona was a strong, friendly, intelligent person who remembered her friends and grew to be deeply religious.  She followed her ambitions and made many contributions to her friends and family. 
 She loved her family and was always ready to be there for them.  Her letters at Christmas and birthdays, which she was very faithful in remembering, would always chronicle the events and well being of her parents and her sister's family.  

I am sure she will be greatly missed and kindly remembered by all those she knew well.  She seemed so vibrant when we saw her last, it is hard to imagine she is gone.

May she rest in peace.

My heart aches at this time. I  miss my dear cousin, friend, and family member. We shared many great times together which i will cherish forever. I will see her again one day and that helps give me some tranquility. I pray to the Lord our father to watch over her and i just know she is looking down upon us with her father, Uncle Tony, hoping we don't suffer to much. I know my dear Elona is at eternal peace in God's Kingdom in Heaven now and forever.  Amen.

Elona will be greatly missed by anyone who knew her. God bless her in Heaven.

We were so sorry to hear of Elona's passing. Her smile, wave and a quick stop to say hello as she drove by will  be missed.
