Ms. Betty grew up on Saint Nicholas Avenue, in New York City and graduated from Central Commercial High School. She attended Brooklyn Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Business and Accounting. In 1964, she married Robert A. Miller, started her family and then moved to Queens, New York.
In 1973, through advancements with IBM, she and her family relocated to Kentucky for three years, and then to Maryland for thirty years. Because family was always her priority, she moved to Kennesaw, GA ten years ago to be with her son and daughter. Betty maintained a successful career working for IBM as an Executive Secretary and retired after twenty five years of dedicated service.
As a retiree she did everything a 5’1 powerhouse could do; she sold Avon, made friends with everyone in the neighborhood, played Bingo and helped raise all of her five grandchildren after school. She loved to cook for everyone and try new recipes; you could always count on something sweet to eat at her house. Her favorite past times were watching old horror movies and cheap budget sci-fi movies, playing computer games, and watching cartoons which made her her grandchildren’s favorite person. What a blessing to be loved by “Mama”! Joy and giving were the gifts of her spirit and she shared them generously with everyone; no one was ever a stranger. She devoted her life to the happiness of her family and as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend she will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Along with her parents Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Miller, and her brother Albert Meyers.
She is survived by her two children, Rassim Miller, wife Jarmottie, of Acworth, GA and Pamela Miller of Acworth, GA; one brother, Antonio DaCruz of New York; grandchildren, Taahira Shabazz, Taariq Shabazz, Jasmine Miller, Ryan Miller, Noah Bleasdell, and sister-in-law Carol Bowen; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
On April 28, 2017, Eloise rested from her earthly labors and went home to be with the Lord. Pastor Sheila Jenkins will officiate the celebration of a life well lived and love endlessly given. She championed our every cause and was our earthly angel. We love you!
