Our beloved Betty passed away peacefully on February 12, 2022. A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Francis Of Assisi Catholic Church in Cartersville, GA on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 3:00 pm to celebrate her life.
Betty was born, the second daughter of Harry L. Ramble and Mary J. Ramble, in Lake Ariel, PA. She graduated from Lake Consolidated High School in Lake Ariel and was a member of the National Honor Society and class Vice President in her Junior and Senior years. She played varsity basketball, baseball and was also a cheerleader. Following high school graduation, she attended Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating Nursing School, she worked at Philadelphia General Hospital as a staff nurse until her move to Silver Springs Maryland where she was employed at Providence Charity Hospital in Washington DC. She relocated to Marietta, GA in 1960 and went to work at Kennestone Hospital as a staff nurse. She continued to pursue advanced nursing education by attending Medical College of Georgia part time, obtaining a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and a Master's Degree in Nursing from Emory University. Her employment at Kennestone included positions as Staff nurse, Head Nurse, Evening Supervisor and Associate Director of Nursing. After obtaining her Master's degree from Emory, she was promoted to Vice President for Patient Services and remained in that position until her retirement. She was employed at Kennestone for 37 years.
Betty married James M. Hamilton Jr.(Jim) in 1977 who was employed at Lockheed GA as a Research Aircraft engineer and became the proud stepmother of the three Hamilton children: Cynthia, Stephanie and James III. Following their retirement Betty and Jim both enjoyed extensive travel with the Elder-hostel Organization and with family and friends.
Betty was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Cartersville GA and was an active participant in the Home-Bound/Nursing Home Ministry. She was a member of numerous Professional and Civic organizations, including The American Nurses Association, Georgia Nurses Association, American Hospital association, and held professional certification from the American Society of Nursing Service Administrators. Civic organizations included the American Red Cross, where she served on the Board of the Cobb County Chapter of the Red Cross, and received her pin as a “Lifetime National Red Cross Volunteer”. She served on the board of the Cobb County Chapter of the YWCA and was a member of the Pilot Club of Marietta.
She was preceded in death by her husband James M. Hamilton Jr., her parents, Harry L. Ramble and Mary J. Ramble, sister Joan Belles of Lake Ariel, and grandson, Charles Mullin of Toccoa, Ga. She is survived by children, Cynthia Mullin of Cartersville, GA, Stephanie Simpson of Smyrna GA, James Hamilton III of Acworth GA, Grandchildren Oliver Mullin of Roswell GA, Chelsea Mullin of Marietta GA, Leah Young of Villa Rica GA, Michael Simpson Jr. of Smyrna GA ,nieces Kathleen Savitz of Lake Ariel PA, Kim Williams of Peekskill NY, and Mary Elizabeth Belles of Los Angeles CA and several great nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home 2950 Cobb Pkwy NW Kennesaw, GA from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
