Mrs. Eleanor Christine Hamilton, age 96, formally of Austell, GA., passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017. Mrs. Hamilton was born on June 27, 1921 in Douglasville, GA, a daughter of the late Warner Gray and Olivia Persis Milam Gray.
Following high school graduation, Christine married Hubert Worthan, they had three sons, Terry, Jerry and Gary. During WWII, she worked at the Bell Bomber facility in Marietta, GA. Following the war, Christine worked for Lockheed Georgia Company who took over operations at the Bell Plant. She married Mike Iacono in the early fifties and giving birth to one son, John. During the 1960’s, Christine worked in education as a kindergarten and substitute teacher in the Austell community where her family lived and a time at Lockheed again. She was very active in the Austell community volunteering in organizations such as the Cub Scouts (Den Mother), Parent Teachers Association (serving as president), Elks and Kiwanis clubs.
Along with her parents Christine is preceded in death by her former husbands, William Hubert Worthan, Michael Joseph Iacono, and Leon Hamilton; one son, Jerry Worthan; two brothers, Dewey Gray and Robert Gray; and one sister, Nell Gray Conner.
She is survived by three sons, Terry Worthan, wife Patsy, of Woodland, AL., Gary Worthan, wife Martha, of Cartersville, GA., and John Iacono of Rockmart, GA; eleven grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and eighteen great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends also survive.
A visitation with the family of Mrs. Christine Hamilton will be held from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home.
