Dot McGoldrick, aged 91, passed away peacefully on Oct 1st, 2024, in her apartment at Sunrise Huntcliff in Sandy Springs, GA. Born on September 15, 1933, in Newport, TN, she was a cherished mother, grandparent, friend, and an inspiring member of the Acworth, GA. community for many years.
Dorothy dedicated much of her life to serving others as a manager of the Acworth Housing Authority for many years, a role that allowed her to impact countless lives. Before that, she shared her passion for learning as a teacher at Acworth Elementary. Before that she was a banker in Decatur, GA. Together with her husband, Bob McGoldrick, they were known for their tireless service to the city of Acworth and their many leadership roles at Acworth Methodist Church. Dot was a vibrant, energetic spirit who never met a stranger; her warmth and kindness touched everyone she encountered. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bob McGoldrick.
She is survived by her son, Mark McGoldrick and his wife Debbie, and daughter Donna Milk. Her grandchildren, Matt McGoldrick and Melissa Wigley, Bralyn Sewak, and Karmen Robinson, Keaton Robinson, and Lydia Robinson will cherish her memory deeply. Dot also loved her great grandchildren, Parker, daughter of Brian and Bralyn Sewak; Rowan and Maddox, children of Melissa and Bekah Wigley; and Joshua and Caleb, sons of Matt and Tess McGoldrick. Many dear friends will miss her infectious laugh, her ability to dance and sing, and her zest for life.
A private family gathering will be held October 5th at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to “The Jesus Film” in honor of Dorothy Ann McGoldrick (jesusfilm.org/give/ways-to-give)
Dot McGoldrick’s legacy of love, kindness, and vivacious spirit will forever remain in our hearts. To God be the glory, for a life well lived.
