David Jerome Townsend

David led a full life. On August 7, 1958 he married the love of his life, Patricia Akins and they remained married for the next sixty-one years before his passing. In the 1960s they moved from Tennessee to Georgia and raised their family. David owned and operated his own business, Worldwide Auto Sales. He was no stranger to hard work, throughout his life, making sure his family was well provided for. David was a good father figure and leader for his entire family. He enjoyed spending time with his family, vacationing at their condo on the beach in Florida and in earlier years taking their houseboat out on the water. He also enjoyed taking trips in their motor home. His greatest joy came from spending time on his farm where he raised many farm animals, enjoyed horseback riding, riding on his big tractors, and hosting big family gatherings.

David was very funny, kind, generous and genuine in nature. If there was ever anyone who was in need, he would do what he could to help them. Kind at heart, there were twenty-six charities that he would donate to. David will be missed by all who met him.

Along with his parents, David is preceded in death by son, Rodney Townsend and sister, Grace Ellen Townsend.

David is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Townsend; sons, Danny Townsend and Greg (Janet) Townsend; daughters, Pam (Chris) Milby and Tina Leonard; sisters, Nola (Earl) Heatherly and Delois (Terry) Cole; grandchildren, Daniel (Selina) Townsend, Shane (Trish) Milby, Bryan (Megan) Milby, Hastings Leonard, Austin Leonard, and Olivia Townsend; great-grandchildren, Kamber Townsend, Hayden Townsend, Ashton Milby, Colton Milby, Mavric Milby, Ace Milby, Revin Milby, and Memphis Milby; and many loving extended family members and friends to cherish his memory.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 11:00am, at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, and will be laid to rest in Pine Ridge Memorial Park immediately following the service. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 between 4:00 and 7:00pm and two hours prior to the service on Thursday.
