Minister Darrell Dewayne Houston went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2022 at 6:56 am. Darrell was born July 30, 1949 to the late Bishop Ralph and Minnie Houston in Los Angeles, California. He was the eldest of 6 children. Darrell was a graduate of Centennial High School in Compton, California and obtained as Associates of Arts Degree from Compton Junior College.
Darrell grew up in the family church, “Bethel United Holy Church of America” and gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was a dedicated organist and choir director for over 30 years, also serving at “Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.” He established a gospel group called, “The Darrell Houston Singers for Christ.” Darrell worked at the family business AA Barrel and Drum for most of his life and eventually became co-owners with his sister Carol. He was also a licensed real estate agent, working with his wife Mary Catherine. For the last 20 years of his life, Darrell worked at and retired from Panorama in Kennesaw, GA.
On December 23, 1998, Darrell moved to Kennesaw, GA and married Mary Catherine. They began their journey together in Christ serving as worshippers under the tutelage of Bishop Ennis and Rev. Ritza Whatley of Laurel, Maryland. Around 2005, Darrell and Mary became ordained ministers by Bishop Mary D. Lawrence, and established their ministry, Christians Networking International Inc. Darrell was an awesome and dynamic man that had a true relationship with Christ. He carried an incredible anointing for worship and intercession. HE WAS LOVED AND PAPA TO MANY!!! Darrell will truly be missed!!!
Preceding him in death are his father Bishop Ralph Houston, his mother Minnie Houston, his grandparents, aunts and uncles. Darrell leaves to cherish his memory, first wife Sheila Harris, son Denzil Houston, daughter Chisa Houston, son Damian Houston, granddaughter Ashley Smith, great grandsons Seth Jordan and Sai Jordan, granddaughter Trinity Cummings, sister Pastor Carol Houston, brother Ronald Houston and his wife Victoria, brother Larry Houston, brother Ralph Houston, Jr., brother Kim Houston.
Also Darrell leaves to cherish his loving memory, his second wife Mary Catherine Houston, son Chan Miller-Scelsa and his wife Brandy, daughter Frandear Barrow and her husband Ricky, son Che Scelsa and his wife Raquel, son Jermaine McKnight, son Ronnie Sullivan and his wife Sharonda, son Vincent Bragg, daughter Taira McKnight, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, Vanessa Martinez, Andrew Martinez, Helena Martinez, Zilah Martinez, McKala Castro and her husband Josh, Harmony Archibald and her husband Chris, Alaysia Lauderdale, Daija McKnight, Saniah McKnight, Destiny Collins, Gregory Scelsa, CheChan Miller-Scelsa, Zoe Barrow, Angelina Barrow, Rihanna Sullivan, Rashon Sullivan, Maaliyah Miller-Scelsa, Tybella Miller-Scelsa, Immanuel Miller-Scelsa, Elijah Scelsa. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
