Darleen was surrounded by her family and died at her home in Kennesaw Georgia. She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 30 years, Peter; children: Dawn Vanderheyden and Anna O’Brien (John); grandchildren: Mariah Krupp, John O’Brien, and Summer Vanderheyden; great-grandchildren; Evan and Isla.
Darleen was born on August 16, 1948 in Syracuse, New York and is predeceased by her dear mother, Mary Bethel Goldthwait (Thomas) and father Donald Goldthwait.
After leaving Syracuse in 1993, she spent many years in West Palm Beach and Palm Bay, Florida, where she had the highlight of her career as a supervisor of the Brevard County Rape Crisis Response Team, where she started off as a beloved volunteer. She moved to Kennesaw to be closer to her grandchildren, who called her “Nonni”.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, there will be no services. Friends are encouraged to leave remembrances of Darleen on her memorial page.
