Cynthia Jan Wilder Selph, was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 1, 1947. Jan went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 8, 2024, at the age of 76, surrounded by her family. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was passionate about caring for others. She began her nursing career as a hospital candy striper when she was just a teenager. She graduated from Jacksonville University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She spent time working with Prevent Blindness through Lions Club International and was a dedicated registered nurse for many years with Duval County Public Health Services.
Jan was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida where she met the love of her life, Robert Charles Selph. Robert and Jan met at the beach where they spent their entire marriage of 43 years. Most important to her was her family. Her daughter Kellie, her son-in-law David and her three grandchildren, Ashlyn, Hannah and Jake were the light of her life. Jan loved to read, loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs with David and Ashlyn, and especially loved going on family vacations. Her three grandchildren thought the world of her and will always remember their Mama as spunky, loving, full of laughter and for giving out the best hugs. Jan always met you with a smile, lifted you up when you were down and made you laugh. We are honored to celebrate her life, her love and her legacy.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Jamie Lee Wilder and Helen Ann Bastonias, and her husband, Robert Charles Selph. Survivors include her daughter Kellie (David) of Kennesaw, Georgia; grandchildren Ashlyn, Hannah and Jacob Leggat; sister Linda (Skip) Weir; nephews Greg (Michelle) Hood and Kevin (Kim) Weir; nieces Tricia McLaughlin, Dana Bloodsworth and Jamie Weir (Bryan Patrick). She will be missed by all, but her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 7 p.m. at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6pm until the service time. Graveside services will be held in Mayport, Florida on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 2pm at the Mayport Cemetery. Jan will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert, in her final resting place. She will be missed by all, but her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
