Mrs. Carol Jean Thomas (Brogdon), age 69, of Woodstock, passed away March 21, 2015 surrounded by her family at home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born and raised in Gadsden, AL the daughter of a Methodist Minister. She was a faithful member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the Asbury Sunday School class. She retired in 2000 from Lucent Technologies and continued working for Earthlink.
She enjoyed and shared in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren thru her participation and support of PTA, High School Marching Bands, ROTC Drill Team, as well as their major interests and hobbies of catering, gardening, and home decor. She was a volunteer at MUST Ministries as long as she was able, even long after her diagnosis. She loved to hear her family sing and loved traveling and attending Broadway and off-Broadway theaters and concerts all over the U.S. She was a faithful Methodist and found strength and comfort through her church and Sunday School family.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Thomas; sister, Shirl Brogdon; daughters, Beth and Todd Allen, Susan and Keith Christlieb; son, Atha and Leta Thomas; stepsons, Johnny and Deb Thomas, Kevin and Donna Thomas; grandchildren, Elise Christlieb, Emma, Jonah and Noah Thomas, Heather Acker, Emily Mullins, Anna Teal; great grandchild, Max Acker.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 25 at 2 PM at Bethany United Methodist Church, 760 Hurt Road, Smyrna, GA 30082, with remains placed instate at 1 PM. Rev. Pam McCurdy will officiate. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Memorial Park in Kennesaw.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
