Barbara Jean Darcy passed away peacefully, at Northside Cherokee Hospital, Canton, Georgia on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the age of 77. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, James Charles Darcy, of Kennesaw, Georgia, and their four children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Barbara and James were married in Babylon, NY on July 14, 1973 and lived in West Islip, NY until 1999. They then moved to Kennesaw, Georgia where they currently have their home. Barbara Jean was born in Providence, Rhode Island and raised in Narragansett, Rhode Island, the eldest child of Raymond and May Brindamour. Her parents and her six brothers and sisters, Alan, Nancy, Susan, James, Joyce and Daniel have all predeceased her.
Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her four children and their families, Lisa K. Burkhart of Port Orange, Florida; James D. Darcy (Erin) of Kansas City, Missouri; Matthew E. Darcy (Jamie) of Roswell, Georgia; and Heather E. Wadsworth (Miles) of Ball Ground, Georgia. Barbara will be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Barbara was a respiratory therapist at Roger Williams Hospital, Providence, R.I. in the late 60’s thru 1973, and at Southside Hospital, Bay Shore, N.Y. thru 1981. She began her favorite career as a private Nanny in NY in 1995 and continued in that role for several families in Atlanta until her retirement in 2009.
The visitation will be held at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Transfiguration Catholic Church with a mass at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 3, 2025.
