Avery ,a dear friend from Shortwood Teachers College years was outgoing, fun loving and genuine. She was devoted to her gardening, flowers and cooking. I vividly remember our fun-filled vacations in Jamaica  taking numerous pictures and videos for cherished memories.     Gone but not  forgotten. Rest in peace my dear friend.      Jean  McKenzie

You had such a love for flowers and water; this day we got both!

Avery was the most generous and supportive spirit that I’ve ever encountered. I remember starting grad school in Memphis, Tennessee and Avery coming for a visit shortly after. During her visit she gave me words of kindness, pep talks, and filled my refrigerator with delicious home cooked meals. I’ll never forget her kindness. Her warmth will stay with me always. Sending love to her family and friends.

I only met Ms. Avery a few times and she was always so kind and welcoming. Her daughter Colleen is a friend - and Ms. Avery’s legacy will live on through Colleen. She raised one of the kindest and most amazing human beings ever…. Her enduring love and spirit will live on through her! My sympathies to you Colleen and your family. I hope you find comfort in your memories together and in God’s love for your mom, you, and all your family.  Big hugs!

I’ll always remember Avery visiting Aunt Sybil—her kindness, her quiet strength, and the way she helped out around the house without ever needing to be asked. She was an excellent, excellent person. Thoughtful, generous, and full of grace.

Right now, I speak as her cousin, mourning the loss of someone who was truly beautiful inside and out. Her presence made the world better, and her memory will live on in all the lives she touched.
