Andreana “Diana” Cummo, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 29, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York and is the daughter to the late Ciro Bruno and Catherine Urso Bruno.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cummo, and grandchild, Jonathon Miller.
Diana married the love of her life, Charlie, in 1949. In 1972, they moved to Florida where she worked in her husband’s Beauty Salon. She went back to school in her 50’s to become a nurse’s aid and worked for Memorial Healthcare for over 20 years before retiring. She was incredibly compassionate and was often remembered as taking excellent care of all of her patients. Diana earned the name “Grammy” in 1985 when her first grandchild was born. She deeply treasured her time with her grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. Her favorite memories were the chaotic trips to Disney with all three kids and taking each one of them on a special monthly date. In 2021, Grammy earned the name “Gee” by her first great grandchild, who absolutely adored her. Her great grandchildren were her entire world and she was blessed with very frequent snuggles.
Charles and Diana loved to cruise and were blessed to share 25 voyages together over the years. She loved to cook and often offered a “quick snack” to all guests consisting of antipasto, spaghetti, chicken Parmesan, dessert, fruit, and nuts. She was dedicated to serving others and engaged in various charity opportunities over the years, including fundraising, crocheting blankets for nursing homes and homeless shelters, supporting the local orphanage, and making baby blankets and hats for children with cancer until the age of 91. Diana also loved attending craft shows, playing cards, and just being in the presence of her closest friends and family.
At barely 100 pounds, this cute and feisty Italian lady completely filled a room with light, love, and hope. She was an incredible blessing to all who met her and she will be missed dearly. Her spirit will live on in our memories forever as she rests peacefully in eternity with her loved ones.
She is survived by two daughters, Jaclynn (Joseph) Puff and Cathy (Ray) Powers; grandchildren, Joseph (Christine) Puff and Jayme (Peter) Seely; and great-grandchildren, Amelia Anne Seely and Madeleine Jayne Puff.
