Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 30th at Canton United Methodist Church in Canton, GA.
Sue was born in Pensacola, FL to Andreas and Pearl Thomsen on May 6, 1944. She is a graduate of Escambia High School in Pensacola, FL and attended Pensacola Junior College. She married Robert Grant Pannell, Jr. on March 22, 1963 in Pensacola, FL. She held multiple Administrative Assistant positions at Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Pensacola, FL and at multiple higher education institutions including Birmingham Southern College, the University of Montevallo, and the University of North Carolina – Greensboro.
Growing up in Pensacola, Sue loved the beaches of the panhandle of Florida. Sue and her family spent many vacations at the beach enjoying time together. She loved walking along the shore collecting shells. Sue was also very active in church throughout her childhood and adult life. While living in Pensacola, Sue and Bob were active members of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and led the middle and high school youth group for several years. After moving to Georgia, they were very active at Canton United Methodist Church where they joined a dulcimer group and a Sunday school group.
Sue is survived by her husband Bob Pannell, her son Robert Grant Pannell, III (Grant) and wife Allison, her daughter Jennifer Pannell Attaway and husband Dennis, and her five grandchildren, Collin Pannell, Andrew Pannell, Chandler Pannell, Hannah Attaway Phlegar and husband Kyle Phlegar, and Logan Attaway.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sue’s honor to Canton United Methodist Church.
