It’s an uphill battle; a journey of survival.

🎃HALLOWEEN 2021……….
Looks like a fun one!
After some trick or treating, they all planned
on meeting.
Ending the night at Lessi’s house, you can 
bet, none of them would be quiet as a mouse.
Four girls……you can bank on it, they would 
be loud!
And one boy……why was Kay the only one always allowed? lol
The mom’s never seem to mind that he was around.
BUT, he was a sweet boy and goofy as ever, so I guess that’s why the mom’s would agree and never say NEVER!
Kay was dressed up as Daniel from Freaks 
& Geeks, a show he loved and watched once
a week.
The girls were cute little animals. There was a kitty, a bunny……so sweet and funny!
The night went on and so did they! They traded candy, took funny pics, and made
silly videos.
What they got into the rest of the night……only they know!
What I do know is that they probably had a ton of fun because that was my son.
You knew it would be a fun day when it included Kay!
He was tons of fun and full of joy…………

We cannot always stop the downpour 
but if you have friends to walk through the storm with, that’s all you can ask for.
Kaleb had some GREAT friends, and 
their still showing up for us and probably 
will till the end.
They’ve helped patch our hearts♥️
which, are now on the mend.
We have our “Fantastic Four” which, 
come very often and whom we adore.
They come without fail, even when it’s 
a bore.
Then their is all the others, which we don’t 
get to see as often but are still in our life, 
to help us get through all our troubles.
None the less, we are all here for each 
other because as we’ve come to learn, 
life can be a struggle.
Kay was fortunate enough to have been surrounded by a good group of kids who 
still hang tough with us.
And now, I have a Brady Bunch of kids which,
is an added bonus!
Thank you all for the love you’ve shown us!
We are thankful for you and I know my Kay would be too!

Here we are again, the months flying by;
today it will be ten.
Nothing will ever be the same as it was 
back when…..
When my son was here and, there wasn’t 
so much to fear.
I’m not sure why things happen as they do, everything is still so unclear.
But, I’m trying my best and trying to persevere.

I got paid a little visit today; I know it was my
sweet Kay.
It wasn’t a deer, or bunny, or cardinal; it was
a Blue Jay.
Tweet, Tweet, Tweeting away; he had so much to say!
Interestingly enough, Blue Jays are symbols of communication.
Maybe, this was my Kay trying to have a conversation!
At least, that’s my explanation.
However he may present himself, matters none to me.
I’m just glad he visits, it makes me so happy!
In that moment, with him……..there’s no place I’d rather be.

we wanted you.
We waited with anticipation, until you 
were due.
Our sweet boy, born on a cold winter’s night.
Showering the darkness with heavenly light.
Eight pounds; six and a half ounces..……

much joy!
From the time we just met, until the night, you took your last breath………
We couldn’t be more PROUD of our magnificent son!!!!!

4 years since you’ve been gone……….
God, I can’t believe it’s been that long!

Grief is the love that I have that is pent-up 
and would like to give.
Give to my sweet Kay, who was unable to live.
I’ve come to know……..  
that this grief I have, is just my love, 
with no place to go.
So, it bottles up until the dam breaks, 
and I’m willing to accept the heartache.
Tears come a falling down;
like, a tornado rushing through a town.
You’ll know what kind of devastation it 
has caused, when you stop for a moment 
and take a pause.
Sure, you can try to re-build again
but, that structure, will never be the 
same as, way back when.
That grief you carry is now embedded 
in your foundation, your soul, for it,
 has no where to go.
So cry, I will because I just have so much 
LOVE still!!!!

The only true magic you can see with 
your naked eye is when you look up at 
the night sky.
Full of color, peaceful, and calm.
When I look up, I often think…….Are you thinking of your Mom?
When I look up, I see you; beaming bright, 
beyond the blue.
Watching over us every night, lighting up
the sky, ever so bright.
As you always did , making us feel warm 
and loved.
Showing us, what you’re capable of, even from above.
My, how the night sky looks so different now that you’re gone.
Every time I look up, I think of you and will again, at dawn.

Last night we got to hang with Mr.B.
He put on a little show, it’s something you would’ve love to see.
Each artist, doing there own thing;
individually, each had something
different to bring.
He also showed a little short film that
 he made.
You had that little skit, it was so awesome 
to see; it’s something I wouldn’t trade.
One thing I would have loved and was envisioning while we were there
is seeing you up on that stage, playing 
your drums for all to hear.
Or maybe joining in with one of the bands with your guitar; my little star!⭐️ 
I wish everyone got to see you as 
we did, unscripted and raw;
you ALWAYS seem to amaze me
and have me in awe!
Talented in so many ways………..
That was my sweet Kay!!!💚

How crazy is it, that we now live in the very same area that we would drive through to
deer watch? Sometimes we would get an ice cream, other times, just to take the ride.
The kids loved taking rides! It was a total waste of gas, but they loved it, and we made memories, and that’s the important part!
The irony of it now though, is that the deer are coming right in our side yard, sometimes morning and night to eat from the apple tree.
Maybe it’s Kay, sending a sign for me!
It’s also so crazy that, I drove past the woodsy area at the end of this street one time. 
I thought, oh wow, it’s so country like over here!
 I wish we would’ve looked to buy in 
this area when we were looking and now 
we’re here!
Another ironic thing is that, now Paul is working just a couple buildings down from where Kay was, it’s pretty crazy to think about! 
Even crazier, how life just does this complete circle.
I was also thinking of just the ironic things 
in our everyday encounters;
It really makes you ponder.
Like, the mere fact, that Kay was afraid of the smallest of creatures. No one would think so by looking at him.
Being big and tall was one of his features.
But a gentle giant he was, but not a lover of bugs!
Another ironic thing about my sweet Kay
was, that he listened to the sounds of the 
ocean on his sound machine to sleep. 
But, afraid he was, of big open waters with depths so deep.
These are secrets, I should probably keep! 🤫

The ironies of life………………..

It’s the NEVERS that will always hurt the worst……..
Never another call; whether big or small.
I’m missing your voice and your laugh most of all; you were such a goofball!
Never another I love you, and this truly, 
makes me blue.
I just want to hold you and love on you,
 like I use to do.
Never another bear hug, I miss them so much!
I miss you and your loving touch!
Never another smile; and It’s sure been awhile.
The pain comes from, what I’m missing out on and will never get back again, and I don’t know how long before I will or when.
I’m missing my son and all our nevers……

My sweet Kay…..
I cannot get past the heartache of not seeing him on a day to day.
Others will go on, simply because they have 
to or they can.
But, it’s just not that easy for me……..
he was MY little man!
It may have been a long time ago for you,
so you can move on and I am glad.
For me, this loss hits me every day and I am just still so hurt and so mad.
Until you are a mother, who has lost a son, 
you will never know how heavy my heart weighs………it’s a ton!!!
I’m missing out on everything, he was my number one!

I can look at the night sky and think how beautiful the colors are, and get excited in 
that moment.
Gasp, at the sight of a deer, as if it were the first.
Take pride in being a Mom and always love on my kids in every way.
Be appreciative of tomorrow because 
it’s a new day.
I am thankful for all things both, big and small.
I never take things for granted but yet,
you took one of my most precious gifts of all!

With you in my heart and on my mind, 
I started decorating for Fall.
It was your favorite time of the year, 
after all!
You loved the cool weather and knowing that Halloween was near.
Which, I’m not sure why it was one of your fav’s because you didn’t do well, even with the little scares!
I would jokingly call you a little wuss because you would screech at the sight of even the smallest of bugs.
Spider’s, bee’s, moth’s and even slugs!
So as it goes:
Girls are made up of sugar & spice & everything nice.
Little boys are made up of frogs & snails & puppy dog tails.
But, not my boy! This would be a tall tale!
He would run from bugs, without fail!
But his personality was big and there was so much more to him than the average boy, in
comparison, he prevailed!

I miss his smile, I miss his voice. I miss 
his laugh, his jokes, him teasing me……..
I just MISS him!
So yes, I think of him often and when I do,
my heart is a little less grim.
Not a moment goes by that I don’t think
of my Sweet Kay.
I think of him every minute of the day!
He is the life in my heart, the twinkle in 
my eye.
He is the one I’m thinking of all of the time.
So, if my mind drifts, you’ll have to excuse

Two of the GREATEST men to have ever lived!
BIG hearts, warm souls; so much LOVE to give.
I was blessed to have them both in my life 
and, even more so now, to watch over me 
and be my guides.
Two of God’s BEST,  walking along with me, right by my side.
We lost everything when you both died.
But having you in our lives has given us something to be thankful for and given us 
so much pride!
No one could ever compare or ever fill their shoes, even if they tried.

I will never understand why.
Why it was my child that had to die.
I know that sounds really wrong to say 
but, you would think differently if you 
had to live life this way.
It’s something you hear happens to 
others but, you never think for a moment 
that it will happen to you.
It’s one of the hardest life lessons 
you’ll ever go through.
People will never understand 
who haven’t gone through it, the 
difficulties of life without one of your
 children, especially your little man!

as we had each other.

Every time dad has a couple beers, he takes one into you to share.
It melted my heart when I seen Ky did the same. 
A Red Bull right next to your picture because she knew how much you loved that mixture!
Yellow and green Red Bulls……..
they were what fueled you, literally, every ounce of your soul.
I would often scold you and tell you that I didn’t want you drinking too many. That it’s 
ok, but only once in awhile.
You would say……… Oh Mom, it’s fine!
And then came that beaming smile.
It would get me every time!
You knew how to melt my heart!
That smile was off the charts!

Today was the start of school for most kids which, got me thinking of you.
Remembering when you graduated and
how proud I was to have seen you through.
Don’t get me wrong, it came with other emotions too:
Excitement, for what was to come.
Sadness, for what I had to let go of.
My little boy to a man in such a short 
time span.
Sending you out into the world was scary 
to me but I knew I had to set you free!
I just wanted to keep you in my little nest 
but God also had a request.

You would have been starting your 2nd semester of college, which makes me so sad.
I’m just missing what was yet to come and what we could of had.
My mind will always wonder about what
could have been but, we’ll catch up when
we meet again!

To a mother, a child’s love, is for all of which her life consists.
The love between a mother and a child is the greatest gift you’ll ever receive.
For, to have a child is like, wearing your heart on your sleeve.
It’s an intense amount of love that you have to experience to believe.
On the flip side of that though, is that the 
greater the love, the greater the sadness, the harder you’ll grieve.
So, imagine the sadness when a child 
precedes a mother, and is the first to leave.

Nine months ago to the day, our lives were turned upside down in every kind of way.
Our ordinary turned purgatory real fast
the very moment that you passed.
God asked for the best and put in a call;
suddenly you were gone and there we stood 
in the mess of it all.
Everyday has felt a little closer to hell;
each one of us having our very own 
torture cells.
We live with the constant torment, no magic button to hit reset.
Your existence has changed our lives in a special way.
And because of that, our lives will be forever divided since “that day.”
A before and an after, the former being one 
of my BEST chapters!

My son’s memory fills me with a strength I never knew before. 
It’s like he’s in my head saying……

My strength is woven from the threads of his sweet memory and the love that we had.

So, although everyday feels like a constant war, I know he has my back and will forever

Emptiness is all I feel inside; a loneliness is how it can be described.
It’s hard for me to believe that you are gone.

everything was wiped clear.
