Dee & I offer our sincere condolences to Jeneane, Katie, John, Logan and family.  Dave's passing came way too soon, and his larger-than-life presence will be missed by all!

We both met Dave 25+ years ago @ Fox Valley.  Dave and I became fast friends and shared many a fairway together.  Always a small wager & some shenanigans followed by listening to Dave pontificate @ the 19th hole.  Together Dee & I enjoyed many gatherings over the years with Dave & Jeneane.  These also, often would feature Dave holding court and talking to anyone that would listen.  He recently would brag that an ancestry test proved he was 100% Irish.  Really Dave, 100% Irish??  Well after further review...few that really knew Dave could question that.  His "gift for gab" left little doubt!

But always prominent in Dave's oracle was his love & pride for his family! You left us way too soon my friend.  Here's hoping you're never late to another t-time, you're enjoying a nice cigar and a favorite beverage (or two)! You lit-up a room...you will be sorely missed but never forgotten!

I am saddened to wake up today and learn that a fellow Financial Professional has passed away. I have known Dave for over forty years in my career as a Financial Professional. It has been a pleasure to work with Dave over the forty plus years through our mutual membership in NAIFA both on the State and local levels. I always enjoyed Dave's insight and great sense of humor! I will keep Dave and his Family in my prayers. I know that God has a special place in heaven for Dave for I know he has done so much to help his family, friends, numerous clients, and fellow colleagues like myself! Rest in peace Dave! I saw Dave this past May at our 50th reunion for the first time since we graduated from St. Joe's.   He was the same witty, funny, engaging guy that I knew and enjoyed so much.  We reminisced about old antics, including our crazy spring break spent at Daytona Beach.  Here's to you, Dave.

Dave was one of my favorite colleagues in our professional association. Please know that he met my definition of a great person, in that, he would make everyone feel like a better person.

Reedy, I could write a book!
With Dave it was never , “Hi Lucia “ it was always , “Hey Lou”.
My friendship with Dave and Jeneane started back about 40 years ago. We, Jeanine and I, played girls softball for “The Library “ on Bailey.  I met Dave then.

Since that time, 40 years of great memories. Even back then Dave would entertain all of us with his countless (and endless,  LOL) stories. 
After about 30 minutes, we would say, “ Dave is there a point to the story?” He would say , 
“Yes, I am getting to it” , and go on! And on.
40 years later, he never changed. 

His smile, laugh and sense of humor always made you feel good to be around him.
His knowledge, passion and insight politically was admirable, and always good for a heated discussion. As many know. 

From our young baseball days to our grown-up black tie events and everything in between, the memories are cherished and endless.

BUT….. Dave shined the most when he talked about his family. His face would light up, his eyes would sparkle. That George Clooney look!!! 
When Dave spoke about Katie, John and Logan ( which he often did) the love and pride for each of them brought him the most joy in his life.
And when he spoke of Jeneane,  Dave would very often say to me,  “Isn’t she great, she is so beautiful… she is the best!” The love of his life. 

I feel so blessed and lucky that we were friends.   Dave ( bag a donuts) I will really miss you.

David was truly one of a kind.  A loyal family man, dedicated insurance professional, golf fanatic, and someone who knew how to have a good time (sometimes too much!).  He was my long time partner at Fox Valley.  We spent many Wednesday afternoons during the golf season over the years celebrating our wins/losses.  Most people at Fox Valley thought of us as the "odd couple", as one of us typically didn't have much to say and the other had plenty to say - anyone reading this will know who was who.

He had the uncanny ability to recall and replay (at length) his round that day and even more impressively, a random round from years past.  He would hold court at the bar or on the patio after our round, most times with a cigar and/or a Molson in his hand and there was no mistaking his laugh.

He had an extremely deep vocabulary, though I'm not entirely certain he could spell some of the words he would pontificate, though he would absolutely try to convince you he could.  Confidence was something he never lacked - he always knew he could make that one shot or hole that putt and was stunned when a 30 foot big breaking putt didn't fall.

He was a dear friend and one of the first to visit us when we moved to Charlotte.  We were playing golf and a bee happened to get in his beer and when he went to take a sip, the bee stung him on his lip, making his lip swell and not even that could slow his story telling.

He will be missed by so many.  Jeneane, Katie, John and Logan he loved you so much - you are in our thoughts and prayers.

RIP Reeds

I have been friends with David nearly 40 years, going back to the days that he coached Jeanine’s softball team. Our friendship continued through many great times at Fox Valley and beyond. I will miss our LONG conversations about politics, sports, family and life in general. He had that great Irish “gift of gab” and a magnetic personality that lit up  a room. I am very sad to learn of Dave's premature death. Although it has been several years since he helped me, he made a great impression and I will always gratefully remember him. I was going through a very difficult financial period after losing my last job, and he advised me to hang on to a very small retirement account. I had no income and had liquidated everything else just to survive, but I took his advice. A few years later when I inherited some money, he helped me work out a solid plan, based on that same account which is now the foundation of our financial security. I would have lost all that if it wasn't for him. I am sorry that I didn't get a final chance to thank him. Dave was a fine person and I am most sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Pat Slive

I am so sorry. Dave and I first met at St Joe’s and I have fond memories of our times together after high school, into our 20s and beyond. We drifted apart in later years but whenever we reconnected at an event it was like we never missed a day. Dave was always fun loving and interested in what I was doing and ready to share his latest challenge, opinion, and escapade. I know with all my heart that he is in a good place. stay close to family and celebrate Dave’s life.

My very deepest sympathy to all of you!  Even though we're actually neighbors, I got to know Dave best as a parent at St. John's School.
I was lucky enough to have each of you "kids" in my 6th grade classes (Katie, remember the Buffalo News Spelling Bee?) and I have nothing but positive memories of those years. He and Jeneane were always interested and supportive parents who were involved in their children's school and education. Dave always had a smile on his face, and something nice (and often humorous) to say. 
When I saw him in the neighborhood there was always a friendly wave and a hello!  I can only imagine how much you will miss him, but he'll always be a part of your hearts.

I was a classmate of Dave's at St. Bonnie's and have only good memories of him.  My condolences to his family. 

I remember you Dave. Always coming over and calling my brothers name “Greg-reeee!” Because that’s what we did as kids we’d go to their door and call them. You used to laugh and crack jokes with my brother for hours. And sometimes when you told and especially funny story your voice would go higher while you doubled over in laughter. What a wonderful way to be remembered-as a funny guy always ready to tell or listen to a good story.  You were like a part of our family and we all love you so. I hope you’re cracking a joke in heaven to liven up the place. Very respectfully and with much love, it’s not goodbye Reetz - it’s see you soon.

Dave was just with all his St Joes buddies at our 50th Class Reunion in May where we had a blast with him and his non stop energy. Always one of the most energetic, easy to laugh, easy to make you laugh quick witted guys ever. His many SJCI Class of 73' pals are truly heartbroken by his passing and very sorry for his family. So glad I got to see Dave at our Reunion....it was memorable and as always so was Dave. God blessed the Reedys with Dave.... a down to earth and great man.

I am so sorry to hear about Dave's passing.   I arranged his insurance exams for many years.   He was the kind of man who took pleasure in taking care of his clients.  When he spoke of his family,  his face lit up with pride and love.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.   RIP

Maureen and I are very sorry to see. I had the pleasure of attending SJCI and Canisius College with Dave. And then we worked together for many years at the National Life agency.  He was a kind man with a great sense of humor. 
He and his family will remain in our prayers.

So sorry to learn of Dave's passing. Bob Gruber and I have many memories of golf outings on NAIFA events- local, statewide or National conventions. Unfortunately now missing from those events are Ken VanSickle and Randy Osvath and now David. 
Dave's laugh and quick wit will certainly be missed by all who knew him. 
May fond memories comfort you in these difficult days and may you find peace knowing the support of friends and family surrounds you.
