I remember when my sister Pat passed away, and Danny came to brother’s house on Merrimack, to give his Condolences , . I was so impressed that he remembered all of the Schwert family, especially myself and my sister Pat . You will be missed Danny, may you rest in peace.

Danny was a staple on our street. You would usually find him walking down the sidewalk  with a cup of coffee in his hand.  He was friendly to everybody and always offered a hand and a joke.  Last time I saw him I told him to have a nice day, and he said, “I just did!”  He used to make my day! He will be sadly missed. 

So sad there is a big gapping hole in our neighborhood. He made us laugh he took care of  his neighbors he loved our dogs and cats We will miss him every day it will never be the same without him . 

As I read Danny's birth date I was astounded to realize that my first real memory of Dan was Halloween 1964,  our first Halloween on Heath St.  So, he was a few months shy of being 4 years old.  He and his little sister, Eileen, came trick or treating.  As an adult, Dan bought the house next door to us and I have so many fond and sweet memories.  I'll really  miss the "Hi, Mrs. Dawley," the jokes, the chatting, seeing Dan over the fence.   Like so many others he blessed us over and over with mowing and snow blowing, we'd hear the motors and know Dan was coming to our rescue.  A couple summers ago my lawn mower battery died and again it was Dan to the rescue as of course, he knew exactly where to go for replacement and insisted on taking it there and picking it up when ready!  Always wanting to help, always wanting to protect his neighbors and Heath St....that's Dan.  I had the sweet privilege over the years of giving Dan a hug or praying with him and he always said, "I love you."   It was, and 
is,  easy to say, "I love you, too, Dan.   My love and prayers come to all of Dan's family.  The Sullivan's have always been special to our family!

Danny was an amazing neighbor. He always kept everyone feeling safe, and always mowed peoples lawn,  removed peoples snow, and visited everyone with stories, and jokes when able. He made us all laugh. Oh did he make us laugh. 

Heath Street has lost a great man. I have to work Saturday but will be there is spirit. 
Peace peace peace Danny… no more pain… no more stress… just an ocean of love! 

Our condolences to the family. He was the neighborhood doer, helper and guardian. He will be irreplaceable.

We, love living in your old home family home. When Danny knew we were interested, he wanted us in there because he instinctively knew we would take care of his mom's place, and we have.  Danny never complained of any changes we made to the house, and there were many, because he knew they were necessary. The important thing to him was treating his old homestead with respect, we always did and always will.  He told us many times that he was so very happy we ended up with his moms place. We were too. It was a good fit for us. 

Danny was THE neighborhood watchman! If we ever had a senior moment and left the garage door open, the phone would ring with Danny telling us our garage door was open! I can remember trying to sell Danny on the merits of txting. Danny, I'd say, you can answer at your convenience and never have to wake someone up. He just said "Just CALL, what could be easier?" His insistence won that argument and many others! He would always help others. He loved this neighborhood, and the people in it.  Danny, we love you too.  You are already missed...

RIP Dan. I’ll never forget the ride you gave me in your Chevy Nova full blown  drag car with the BIG engine. You  drove it to Lakeview with some bogus plates!!

I am so sorry for your loss. Danny was a great guy. I got to know him very well over the last 20 years.  He always had a joke or quick comeback.  Danny always had me in stitches.  We used to go around Grand Island on Mondays and Tuesdays after having dinner.  In the years I've known him and hung around him we must have driven around Grand Island 250 or more times.  Danny was always there if I needed help or a ride to or from the airport.  I will miss your silly calls and jokes tremendously.   R.I.P. Danny.  You are in a better place with G and G, your mom and dad and everyone else you knew that has gone before you.  We will meet up some day!  I love you Danny!
