Jimmy Poston was born April 30, 1944 in Rockwall County, Texas to parents Jerry Valentine and Abbie Alice (Burcham) Poston and entered eternal rest on March 30, 2020 in Athens, Texas at the age of 75.
James was known by most as "Jimmy" but was also called "Shades" and "Poston" and most recently "PopPop" by his beloved great-grandbabies.
He was a Baptist by faith and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Prior to that he was a member at Oak Grove Baptist in Dallas where he met Flominda (Philpot) Morris and married on February 14, 2009. Jimmy was interested in and enjoyed collecting American Indian Artifacts. He was a remarkable man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Flominda Poston of Seven Points, and son James Benton Poston Jr. and wife Mandy of Corsicana, stepdaughter Melinda Irvin and Eli Escobar of Cedar Hill, sister Nancy Hilton of Odessa; grandchildren; Cameron Irvin and spouse Jessica of Kaufman, Tyler Irvin and spouse Beth of Alba, Landon Irvin and Morgan of Kemp, Madison Irvin of San Antonio, and Mallie Poston of Corsicana, great-grandchildren; Stone, Scout, Steele, Kynlee, Knox, Candon, and Colt, other loving family members and many more friends.
