Billy Jack was born on April 15, 1947 in Aley, Texas to parents Lloyd D. and Esther (Haley) Bruner and entered into eternal rest on May 18, 2019 at the age of 72. He loved going fishing, being outdoors and playing with his grandchildren. Billy Jack also known as “Happy Jack” was a God fearing righteous man who was often heard to say “I am blessed and highly favored.” He unselfishly gave his kidney to his brother in 1970. It was the first operation of its kind and only 5th in the whole world. His marriage brought comments like “I want what Brother Billy and Sister Charlotte have.” Billy was a hardworking man, working three jobs most of his life. He retired from working at the Terrell State Hospital in 2009. He was a senior Deacon and song leader at Styx New Life Church where he was instrumental in the start of the Church. Billy also worked at Cedar Creek Dragstrip over 20 years, from its beginning by helping pour the concrete for the strip. He was a warrior and he died on Armed Forces Day. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Billy Jack will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Billy Jack was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Monica Bruner, brothers Lloyd Jr. Bruner, Roger Dale Bruner, Mark Lynn Bruner and Billy Ray Bruner, and sisters Connie Shaw, Bonnie Wood and Geneva (Mickie) Miller.
