She was sadly predeceased by son, Mark and husband, Matt.
She will be remembered with love by son Alan and wife Susan, daughter-in-law Catherine, daughter Lynn and husband Garry Bond; grandchildren Russell (Michelle), Julia, Curtis (Brittany), Marlise (Scott), Larissa (Ryan), Tarren, Chelsie (Corrigan); great grandchildren Taylor, Rylan, Owen and Brooklyn.
Yvonne will also be missed by many extended family members on both the Baranow and Walker sides. She loved them all.
Yvonne was born in Goodwater, Saskatchewan and at an early age came to BC with her mom, Gertrude Walker and sister, Helen. The three of them finally set up home in Kelowna until Yvonne married Matt in 1955 and moved to Vancouver.
Through the years she was a devoted wife and loving mother. Yvonne loved time with family and friends and especially loved to feed them all! Whether for tea or a meal everyone was welcomed to the table, no matter how many.
With their young family, Matt and Yvonne enjoyed many happy years of camping trips, get togethers, bar-b-ques and travels to visit, family and friends from BC to Newfoundland. Once the grandchildren came, Yvonne was best grandma ever.
After moving to Kelowna in 1996, they continued to host fun backyard events and reunions at their house. Yvonne always loved a good May long weekend with a house full of company! They also had many adventures travelling in the ‘Happy Bus’ all over Canada and to parts of the U.S.
Yvonne suffered a severe stroke and became wheelchair bound in January 2015 spending the rest of her years as a resident of Cottonwoods Care Home. Thankfully Lynn was close by and able to give Mom special care, attention, and homemade meals through this time. Yvonne remained steadfastly positive and cheerful, even after losing her mobility and independence, showing her amazing strength of character.
Yvonne loved many things including Christmas time making perogies, water fights with ‘kids and adults’, a good cup of boiling hot tea, and especially crispy toast. Yvonne passed away peacefully listening to her favorite dancing songs ready to dance with dad again.
There will be a family celebration to honor Yvonne at a later date.
