Winnifred (Roberts) Murphy was born March 31, 1934 in Swan River, Manitoba, the fourth child of David and Gladys Roberts. Her elementary schooling was in Swan River, followed by middle school in Langley, and then high school at Canadian Union College High School in Alberta, graduating in 1955. After a one-year teacher training course she taught elementary grades intermittently in Adventist schools for 20 years. In 1959, she married Dan Murphy. To this union was born a son, Roger, and a daughter, Beverly. Aside from serving her church in various capacities, she enjoyed sewing, painting, and cake decorating. She and her husband retired to Kelowna in 2002, enjoying the beautiful Okanagan. The onset of Alzheimers diminished that enjoyment the last couple years of her life, and she succumbed to other health issues on December 30, 2020. Her family and her church will sorely miss her pleasant personality. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her siblings Lloyd, Llewella, and Greeta. Surviving are her husband Dan, son Roger, daughter Beverly, grandsons Bretton and Jordan, and granddaughters Cassandra and Georgina. Faithful to the end, Winnifred awaits the call of the Life-giver.
