It is with heavy hearts and happy memories that we wish to announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Hubert Thomas on December 25, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Shirley and three stepchildren: Lance (deceased), Darrell (Janice) and Shari; grandchildren: Devon (Bonny), Janelle, Marissa, and their great granddaughter, Isla. He was predeceased by Helen with whom he had six children and two stepchildren: Gordon Graham, Gary (deceased), Billy, Karen (Chris), John (deceased), Carol (Paul) Vanderheyden (Doug & Blake), Charolette & Mariano Serpa (Justin & Aimee), Kaitlin (Lance) and two great granddaughters Ariella & Rosalia, Roberta (Randy). Bill served during the War from 1948 – 1956. He did his training in Victoria and Shilo and served in the army as a paratrooper. He served in Korea and later worked at the training base in recruiting in Winnipeg. Bill and his wife belonged to many RV Clubs and loved traveling around the country seeing new places and visiting relatives and new friends. They also belonged to many square dancing clubs where Bill was the club caller for the Kelowna Wagon Wheels and Star Country. Their life was full of travel, family, friends and their love of dance. Family and friends are invited to a Service of Remembrance to be held in the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Home, 1211 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with a Reception to follow at the Village at Mill Creek, 1450 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna. Private Inurnment will be held by the family at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna, BC.
