Irene was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Jack, on April 22, 2021. Her memory will be forever cherished by her four children, Debbie, Ken (Christine), Dianne (Dave), and Garry (Debra), seven grandchildren, Tara (Isaac), Ashley (Joe), Chad (Chelsea), Shauna (Ryan), Jarret (Denise), Jesse, Jaclyn (Jeff), and nine great grandchildren, Presley, Elliotte, Cole, Harlow, Logan, Avery, Teddy, Whitney, and Lucy.
Born in Viking, Alberta to Eugene and Mary Meyer, Mom was one of five children and is survived by her sisters Catherine and Margorie. She grew up in a farming community in Irma, Alberta and over the years led a very active and social life. She enjoyed downhill skiing (well into her 70’s), golfing, sewing, fishing, camping, gardening, daily power walks, playing pool and attending all her grand children’s activities. Mom was a hard worker and enjoyed many jobs as an secretary, recreational therapist at Cottonwoods and Brookhaven and working at Walmart– of which she graciously took a lot of ribbing.
Mom loved to laugh and had a smile that would light up any room. She and Dad loved to travel, taking many trips across Canada, Hawaii, Reno, and lastly - a very memorable visit to Ireland with Ken and Christine. She will fondly be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to Dr Gossier and all the staff at Village at Smith Creek - Reece Ward who lovingly and attentively cared for Mom the past two years. A service to celebrate her extraordinary life will be held on May 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Kelowna. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Society or BC Cancer society for Breast Cancer.
Rest peacefully Mom. We Love You.
