We regret to announce the passing of Richard “Dick” Heddle on November 27th, 2017. Dick was born on August 16th, 1937, the only child of Dunbar and Alys Heddle. Dick was raised in Oyama, BC and spent his childhood fishing, swimming, hiking and riding horseback. Dick eloped with his wife Nita on July, 19th, 1958 to Okanogan Washington; on the opening day of Okanagan Lake Bridge. Dick worked as a truck driver, then at Monaghan Agency before returning to trucking. He loved the open road, and trucking for Clearly Canadian was the highlight of his career. He is deeply missed by his wife of 59 years Juanita (Nita), his two children, Lani (Jim) and Rick (Shannon), grandchildren Megan (Malcolm), Nikki, Carly and Sienna, and his two great-grandchildren Nicholas and Otto. He will also be missed by brother-in-law Leo (Janice) and family, as well as countless friends from throughout the years. Dick loved to laugh, joke and tease with family and friends, and loved to be outdoors; walking, hiking and cross country skiing were among his favourite pastimes. He had a passion for his Harley, and loved going for motorbike rides with friends and family. The family will be holding a private family event celebrating his life later this year. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
