She is survived by her husband of 64 years Bruce Herman McDonald, her children, Kerri Onken (Robert), Brenda Mahoney (Kevin), and David McDonald, and her grandchildren Catherine (Kerri), Christina, Victor and Shannon (Brenda), Danika and Jamie Garbowski (Cindy) and great-grandchildren, Audrey, Olivia, Eleanor and Isla (Catherine). Madge was predeceased by her daughter Cynthia, who died in 2013 of Leukemia and her sister Sally in 2020.
Madge was born in Owen Sound, Ontario on May 19, 1933, to the late John and Mary Matthews. She is survived by her sisters Janet Green (Elgin), and Carol Berger (Helmut) and brother Bob Matthews.
Madge graduated with a nursing degree in 1954 from Owen Sound Memorial Hospital in Owen Sound, Ontario. She worked as a night supervisor at Langley Memorial Hospital in Langley, BC for most of her career, retiring from Sechelt General Hospital in 1995 to Kelowna, BC.
A family service was held at Missionwood Retirement Home, Kelowna, BC on Dec.3. 2022.
A celebration of Madge’s life will be held in Kelowna in May 2023.
