After a brief but hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer, Lynda passed away on November 26th under the loving care of the Central Okanagan Hospice House. Lynda was happy to spend her last few months in Kelowna with her beloved husband Mike and daughter Carolyn. Predeceased by her mother Hazel in 2020, Lynda will be deeply missed by Mike, Carolyn, brother Richard (Linda) Dunham and their sons Adam and Chris, uncle Ralph Rodger, aunt Frances Lefevre, sister-in-law Lorraine (John) Buchanan and their sons and daughter, and many cousins and dear friends.
Lynda was born and raised in Victoria, attending Tillicum, Colquitz, and Mt. View schools. Lynda earned a degree in Computer Science at UVic and worked as a systems analyst for ICBC and BC Buildings Corporation. In 1984, Lynda went back to school to study law, graduating and being called to the Bar in 1987. After graduation, Lynda articled at Harman Wilson & Co and then served as ombudsperson for the University of Victoria Students Society. She later worked as a tax interpretation officer for Revenue Canada.
Lynda was touched by the amount of love she received throughout her life, and especially in the last few months. Lynda loved to travel; with Mike and Carolyn she went on several exciting trips to many different parts of the world. Lynda also loved to knit and draw. She was an avid reader and studier of literature, and was a faithful member of her book clubs - the Commonwealth Book Club and Rosie's Readers, where she made several lasting friendships. She was overjoyed to participate in their meetings, even in her last weeks via Zoom.
We would like to express our deep appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Kelowna General Hospital and Kelowna Hospice House, and to the Kelowna Palliative Care team.
