It is with broken hearts, Ken’s family announces his passing on September 26, 2024, at Kelowna General Hospital. His battle against cancer was a true testament to his strength, determination and bravery.
Ken, aka, “The Sheriff” and “The Mayor of Rutland” spent most of his life in the Rutland area. It was here he formed many lifelong friendships and was always one of the first to help those in need. The help he provided to others included groceries, a warm winter coat, moves halfway across the country and everything in between. His heart was big and generous.
Left to mourn the loss of their father and grandfather are his two daughters and their families. Brooke and Sander with their children, Myla and Jaxon and daughter Haley and her partner Matt. His girls and grandchildren were the light in his life. He never missed an opportunity to share the pride he felt for them.
Ken was predeceased by both parents, sister Kandiss, one niece and three nephews to whom he was a fun and loving brother and uncle.
Life will never be the same without Ken for his siblings Dennis and Nina, Blanche, Lenna and brother-in-law Scott, as well as his nieces, nephews, great nephews and great niece. He will also be missed by his aunts and many cousins.
We would like to thank Ken’s friend Shirley for her love and care over the last few months of his life.
In memory of Ken, watch an episode of, The Rifleman, or the movie titled, The Cowboys, starring John Wayne as these were a couple of his favorites. When you hear a Johnny Cash song, remember Ken as it only takes one song to bring back thousands of memories.
At Ken’s request, there will be no formal service, and he will be placed in his final resting place beside his mother on November 15, 2024.
We will meet again.
