Judy is predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Bessie Johnsen and stepdaughter Kelly Newbery. She leaves behind a large and loving family: her daughters Amanda, Amber (Gates) and Karmen Donaldson, and Kim Dolloway, and grandsons Owen and Simon Genero. Also her sister Louise (Mason) Dodds and brother Peter (Barb) Johnsen. She was a cherished aunt to Shannon (Steve) and Tommy and great-aunt (aka Nana) to Sean.
Over the last few years, Judy found love, joy, and companionship with her partner John Foote and built special bonds with his family including Christy Foote, Jake and Veronica Nylund and their families. They travelled to Portugal together in 2024, they saw the world’s largest aquarium and Judy, always clumsy, did a big face plant on the train; this trip will be fondly remembered. They played many, many games of crib (Judy was ahead), and most importantly laughed together. John was by her side and provided invaluable support throughout her illness. Judy has lived her life, including the most recent adversity, with a positive attitude, sense of humour, and smile, and was the most important support to her family and friend. Judy will be missed not only by her family, but also by all of her loving friends; everyone that has met her has became a true and lifelong friend.
She smiled and joked with the Kelowna General Hospital staff, where she received great care and attention. We are all so appreciative of the nurses, doctors, and support staff that provided her care both at KGH and the Central Okanagan Hospice House.
She will be fondly remembered for her sense of humour, her often dirty jokes, her kindness, and her spirit by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
