Born: Ville Marie, Que. Mar. 18, 1938 died Oct. 5, 2023 in Kelowna, BC.
Parents: Walter Joseph Cormier and Yvonne Gagnon.
Predeceased by his parents, brother Darcy and son John. Survived by his partner of 32 years Vickie Barron, daughters Gale (Ken) and Rachelle, step-sons George (Janice), Ed (Joanne) and Jason (Leah). Numerous grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Joe is also survived by his brother Paul (Beth) and family and numerous nieces and nephews in Ontario.
Joe was a man of many trades in his life. He was a heavy- duty diesel and automotive mechanic, a journeyman millwright and held numerous welding tickets. Joe worked in the forest industry in sawmills in maintenance. He was an employee of the sawmill here in Kelowna for 28 years as millwright then welder. Welding was his love and upon retirement he continued with that as a hobby. He built a nine-foot-high waterwheel that he wanted to generate our own hydro, but because of physical health he never got to generate hydro only to watch it spin.
Joe had a love of flying and held a Commercial single engine Pilots license for many years.
As per Joe wishes there will be no formal service just the family and close friends at a later date to inter his ashes.
Those who wish to remember Joe, can donate to Canadian Cancer Society, Kelowna Hospice House or a charity of their own choosing.
