March 18, 1930 - February 9, 2020
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe Kaiser on February 9, 2020, at the age of 89. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He was deeply loved.
Joe was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 18, 1930, and moved to Kelowna in 1951 where he met the love of his life, Lorraine White. He played hockey with the Winnipeg Monarchs prior to his move to Kelowna to join the Kelowna Packers as Centreman until 1959 during which time he made lifelong friends who got together regularly over the years to reminisce and share friendly jabs at one another about the good old hockey days. He was inducted into the Central Okanagan Sports Hall of Fame in November, 2008. Joe was an excellent athlete and was also a fine baseball player, golfer, skier and tennis player. After his hockey days, Joe worked at OK Builders Supply where he became the Manager until he retired at the age of 65.
Joe loved to be in the kitchen cooking for family and friends and will be remembered for his amazing meals especially his huge breakfasts at Big White and the Shuswap. He had a great and mischievous sense of humour, loved to laugh and always put a smile on the faces of all those who loved to be around him. How lucky we all are to be blessed by his huge heart, kindness and his love for us all. He was the salt of the earth.
Joe is survived by his Loving wife, Lorraine, of 66 years; sons Lawrie and Carey (Sandy), daughter Candace (Les), grandson Tommy and granddaughters Lynsey (Sean) and Alex (Nelson) as well as many dearly loved nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his mother and father, Michael and Louise and eight siblings with one surviving brother, Micky of Winnipeg.
We will miss him every day and he will be forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in honour of his memory.
