Janet Olive Harris (nee Nicks)

July 1, 1934 – April 6, 2025

Janet Olive Harris of Kelowna, passed away on April 6, 2025 at the age of 90.

Janet was born in Stettler, Alberta to Webster and Olive Nicks on July 1, 1934. It was there she met a young oil fields worker, Curtis Harris, who became her husband and partner for 62 years until he passed away on August 13, 2013. They ultimately moved to Kelowna where they settled into the Rutland community and raised 3 children. Janet quickly became an active congregant with the Rutland United Church. She was especially fond of her many years singing in the church choir.

Janet is survived by her son Allan, daughter Vivian Garneau and son Hugh (Karen); grandchildren: Michelle, Dustin (Elise), Jennifer (Chris), Matthew (Jenny), Nicole (Yavniel), Geoffrey (Sarah); great grandchildren: Briana (Will), Aiden (Liz), Tayah (Kobe), Alexander, Anabelle, Evelyn, Wyatt, Clinton, and Rylee; great-great grandson Makoa; sister-in-law Pat and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents, brother Russell (Betty), grandson Benjamin and great-grandson-in-law Byron Paulson.

The family wishes to thank the attentive staff at Kelowna General Hospital for the compassionate and respectful care shown to Janet and her family during her final weeks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.

As per her request there will not be a funeral. Inurnment will take place at a future date with a private family gathering.
