It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Greyell, a kind and caring gentleman who left us on November 20th. Gary touched the lives of everyone he encountered with his warm smile, gentle soul, and humble nature.
Born on February 11th, 1945, Gary was a beloved son to his parents, Mel and Alice Greyell, and a cherished brother to Bruce Greyell (Patsy) and his sister Linda Wooding (Mike). His family meant the world to him, and he carried his roles as a son and brother with grace and devotion.
He found his lifelong companion in his devoted wife, Denise. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams through building their own home, hiking, camping, travelling, and devoting time to their church. Their journey was blessed with the joy of parenthood, as they became the proud parents of two wonderful daughters, Christine and Leslie.
As a father, Gary exemplified kindness, patience, and an unwavering commitment to his family. His daughters were his pride and joy, and he took great delight in watching them grow into the remarkable individuals they are today. Gary's love extended to his two sons-in-law, Jason Gordon and Michael Hoffman, whom he welcomed into the family with open arms.
As a grandfather, Gary found immense joy and fulfillment. His face would light up with a special warmth whenever he spent time with his grandchildren, Noah, Will, and Lily. He showered them with affection and took interest in their hobbies while creating cherished memories that will forever live on in their hearts.
Gary's impact reached far beyond his immediate family. He enjoyed his time with his many nieces and nephews and extended family members. His kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit touched the lives of his friends, neighbours, colleagues at work, and community members. Whether through a lending hand, a listening ear, or a comforting word, Gary made the world a better place.
As we mourn the loss of Gary Greyell, let us remember the love and light he brought into our lives. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC in his honor.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the care workers and nurses at the Spring Valley Care Centre.
Rest in peace, Gary. Your love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know you.
A funeral Mass and celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 750 Rutland Road, N., Kelowna.
