It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Doreen Williams on September 14, 2018 in Kelowna at the age of 81. Doreen is survived by her two sons Keith (Sherri) Williams and Kerry (Kelli) Williams, grandchildren Ashlee (Danny) Deal, Jordan Williams, Shaun (Jenn) Williams, Eliot Williams and sweet little great granddaughter Olivia Deal. Doreen was predeceased by her husband, and one true love, Richard (Dick) Williams and her sister, and best friend, Shirley Anderson.
Doreen was born in Camrose, Alberta on April 14, 1937. With her family, she moved to Haney, B.C. where she went to school, met and married Dick and together they had two sons. In 1977 the family moved to Westbank where the boys were raised. When Dick passed away of cancer in 1983, Doreen raised her two teenage boys on her own. She went to work as a custodian at SD23 until her retirement. Doreen enjoyed sports whether watching curling, golf or the Toronto Blue Jays. She loved bowling and golfing with friends. She could also be found cheering on her grandchildren at all their sporting events. Most of all, Doreen loved her family. Her boys were everything to her. She was always there for her grandchildren, spending time with them, listening to them with an understanding and non judgmental ear. Doreen was quiet but strong and independent but often thinking of others before herself. She will be missed greatly by all her family and her close friends, many who were like family. A Celebration of Doreen’s life will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 1:00 pm at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.firstmemorialfuneralkelowna.com.
