With broken hearts we announce the passing of Donald R (Rick) Parker on June 11, 2024 at the age of 71 after almost two years fighting cancer. He never gave up and fought with strength and courage until the end. Rick loved his family with all his heart, family was everything to him. He leaves behind to grieve, his loving wife of 39 years Deanna Parker (Dea), stepson Scott Booth, daughter-in-law Deanna Booth, son-in-law Shea Bailey, grandsons Dayle, Ryan and Brandon Booth and Brodie Bailey, granddaughter-in-law Hannah Radomske, great granddaughter Alexia Booth, as well as his siblings and many great friends and relatives. Predeceased by his father Donald Parker, mother Ethelee Hackett, his beautiful daughter Crystal Parker and sweet great granddaughter Addilyn Booth.
Rick had many interests, he loved travelling and road trips, we visited many interesting places around the world. He loved the Blue Jays, Canucks and Kelowna Rockets. He was an avid pool player helping to establish the Kelowna 8 Ball Association (KEBA), serving on the Executive committee for many years and playing in the league for about 25 years. He enjoyed golfing and attending Kelowna Actors Studio productions. He also loved his Mustang and his beer.
He was a very loving and supportive husband. He had a quiet demeanor but a quick wit, surprising everyone with a one-liner when least expected.
We wish to thank Dr. Bucarelli and the staff at the cancer clinic, the doctors and staff on his ward in KGH, the caring staff at Hospice House, Dr. Weisenthal, Dr. Hugo, and a special thanks to Rob and Terese Kormish for everything they have done for us.
I will love you forever Rick as will all your family. RIP, you are now pain free.
A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 6th, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna.
