It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Michael Tapp, a loving father, son, brother and friend, on September 7, 2023, at the age of 75. He was comforted in his final hours and passed peacefully after a battle with cancer.
Born June 18, 1948, in North Bay, Ontario , Brian was the oldest son of Weldon and Elsie Tapp. He was a graduate of University of New Brunswick. Because of his love for the lake and Kelowna, he moved his family to the Okanogan Valley and started a long career with Labatt's.
Brian was a true athlete at heart. He loved the game of hockey and played both professionally and well into his adult years in various men's leagues. Also coaching both his sons through their minor hockey careers. There was not a friendly competition Brian would turn down, whether in the rink, on the ball field or tennis court. Those moments provided some of his greatest joy and happiness.
Brian's biggest love was his three children. His sons Shane and Jason and daughter Jessica. He was very proud of their many accomplishments and his home was always filled with photographs and memories of their lives. Sadly, Brian was predeceased by Jessica in 2012.
Brian is survived by his sons Shane Tapp and Jason Tapp (Nicol), his partner Cheryl Gunn, his brother Charles Tapp (Barb) and sister Marian Clarke (John) as well as three grandchildren, Ella, Avery and Kellen.
Though we mourn Brian's passing, we take solace in the knowledge that he recently spent a week with his family by his side, fufilling one of his final wishes to be surrounded by his children and grandchildren in Kelowna.
