Peggy Ann Thatcher Stroup was born on July 8, 1930 at home in Stony, Texas, and passed away peacefully on December 2, 2022 in Houston, Texas. She was born to parents Frank and Agnes Thatcher as the fifth of eight children. Peggy married Bill Stroup, the love of her life, in 1946 and they celebrated 54 wonderful years together before his passing in 2000. They raised three daughters, Becky, Kathy and Christi. Peggy worked for Lockheed Martin for many years before her retirement in 1995. Peggy was deeply loved by her family and friends. She enjoyed travel, history, reading and doll collecting. Her true passion was gardening and flowering plants of all types. She loved playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, taking them for rides on her John Deere riding lawnmower. Peggy loved to shop, always on the hunt for a bargain. She made cross stitch for years. We are blessed to have her artwork as keepsakes in our homes.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Agnes Thatcher, her beloved husband Bill, her siblings Joe, Frank, Jane, Billy, Sally, and Polly and her grandson Brian Hafele. She is survived by her 102 year old sister Edith Cleere, her daughters Becky Stroup, Kathy White, and Christi (Kenny) Rogers, her grandchildren Matthew Laughlin, Lindsey White, Kristin Hansen, Kyle Rogers and Camryn Rogers, her nine great-grandchildren Tyler Cartledge-Luster, Savannah Hafele, Trevor Hafele, Sawyer Hafele, Teagan Hafele, Saylor Hafele, Turner Hansen, Reed Hansen, and Wade Hansen and her two great-great granddaughters Zoey Cartledge and Zella Cartledge and a host of nieces and nephews.
