James as an avid hunter with many trophies to show his marksmanship. He had a love for golfing which started at a young age while working at Hancock Park Golf Course. He was a diehard Cowboy fan no matter how the season was going. His most favorite times were spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Reba; his daughter, Sherry Campbell and husband, Michael of Boyd; son Brian Phelan and Tamara of Keller; three grandchildren, Samatha Verden and husband, Christopher of Fort Worth, Kelly Tippins of Keene and Corry Phelan and wife, Christina of Midland; four great-grandchildren, Alana, Jesse, Lakin and Connor and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Freda and two brothers, William Phelan and Jimmy Phelan of Lampasas.
A visitation will be held Monday, February 1, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Keller's Old Town Funeral Home, 220 Keller Parkway, Keller, Texas 76248 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 12:30pm at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
