James Harold (Jim) Jones, a Haltom City resident for 73 years, passed away at his home August 18, after a long illness. James was born in 1950, the youngest of four children born to Howard and Alene Jones. In 1968 James graduated from Haltom High School and in 1974 married Sherrie Hinz, his life-long partner. He worked a number of jobs in the Fort Worth area, starting in his teens delivering newspapers for the Star-Telegram, and continuing with more than 25 years at Miller Brewery.
James is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Sherrie Hinz Jones, his parents, Howard and Alene Jones, and his brother, William E. Jones. He is survived by his brother Robert Jones and wife Joyce, and his sister Janet Peavler and her husband Gary, as well as niece Kelly Jones, nephews Michael and Kevin Jones and David and Steven Peavler, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday, August 26, at Northwest Church of Christ, 6059 Azle Avenue, Fort Worth, 76135. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his memory to the church.
Burial will be next to his wife at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery.
