June 25, 1935 - September 7, 2022
Anne Marie Larson (née Morrissey) — a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to many — died on September 7th in her home in Keller, TX.
Anne was beloved by anyone who knew her, capturing hearts with her infectious laugh and improvised goofy songs she sang in her beautiful Soprano voice. She made you feel like you were the sunshine in the room, pulling you in with her smile and mischievous snicker, not realizing she was often the sunshine everyone in the room gravitated to. Annie was always ready for a good time — snacks and supplies ready in her Mary Poppins-like bag of goodies for whatever adventures came her way. Her quick (often sarcastic) wit never failed, and even in her hardest days, she found ways to make everyone around her laugh. She accepted everyone for who they were in a way far ahead of her generation, and she embodied the vital lesson to seize every day.
Anne was born to proud Irish parents from Kilkenny and Kerry, Patrick and Elizabeth Morrissey, on June 25, 1935 in New York City, becoming a cherished little sister to her big brother, Patrick. She had many adventures growing up in New York, especially Rockaway beach, where she spent many years building sand castles as a child, swimming and lounging with her friends as a teenager, and finally being dubbed “the beauty of Rockaway” by her husband when she met him there. She also loved traveling abroad from New York, especially to visit her cousins back in Ireland for the summers. After graduating from Stella Morris High School and starting her first job at Chase Bank in Manhattan, she married her husband, Jerry, in 1957 and they raised their children — Jerry and Tara — in Kew Gardens, Queens.
Anne later continued her journey in Texas, where she moved with her family in the 1980’s. There she learned to love Texas like a true Texan, attending Tarrant County College, marveling at the wide open spaces and horses, and road-tripping across the state in her daughter’s convertible. Her most cherished adventure also happened in Texas, where she became “Nanny” to her 5 grandchildren and great-granddaughter and watched them grow up proudly. They could always count on Nanny to feed them a bowl of fresh blueberries and wrap them up in a towel when they hopped out of her pool.
Anne’s unique optimism, fun-loving nature, and vigor for life could never be replaced, and she will be forever missed. But those behind know the best way to honor her is to show love as much as possible, always be ready for a good time, and remember that it’s the little things that matter most.
In her death, she will be reunited with many loved ones: her mother and father, Patrick and Elizabeth Morrissey; her brother, Patrick Morrissey; her niece, Lynn Johnson; her grandson, Cornelius Butler; and her great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Valkyrie, and Ramsey Lipson.
She is survived by her husband Jerome T. Larson; her children Jerry Larson (and wife Jana Baxter-Larson) and Tara Larson-Binzer (and husband Dr. Thomas Binzer); her grandchildren Brianne Larson-Lipson (and husband James Lipson), Blaire Larson-Clark (and husband Steven Clark), Larson Binzer (and partner Mike Cziner), and Patrick Binzer; great-granddaughter, Phoenyx Lipson; great-grandson, Noah Clark and countless other family and friends.
A mass will be held at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Monday, September 19 in Keller, TX with a committal service to follow. Flowers can be sent to Keller Old Town Funeral Home or, in lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Anne’s honor.
