Winston A. "Butch" Roy Jr.

He was born on September 5, 1948 in Keene, the son of Winston and Ilene (Crossman) Roy.

On May 29, 1990 Winston married Ilene (Exel) Giroux at Cathedral of the Pines in Jaffrey.

The woods called for Winston; and he enthusiastically followed his heart’s desire, and setting out he became a skillful logger. He had been employed by Beaman Lumber and Cersosimo Lumber as a logger and trucker. His own company proudly beared the name Roy Logging where he had worked with his son, David.

Looking at Winston, you could see his kindness and gentle nature through those beautiful, blue eyes. Being the greatest father, grandfather, and best husband anyone could ask for will be one of his greatest accomplishments. He exuded strength and was an extremely hard worker both at work and in his personal life.

Winston had been a member of the Moose Lodge in Keene. He enjoyed getting dressed up for a night out of dancing. Together, he and his wife Ilene, spent many adventures canoeing.

Winston will be dearly missed by his wife: Ilene Roy of Fitzwilliam; mother: Ilene Proulx of Keene; children: David Roy and his wife Janet of Swanzey, Melissa Roy-Hill and her husband Lyle of Swanzey; step-daughter he loved as his own: Kate Frock and her husband Ethan of Keene; grandchildren: Jeremy Roy, Payton Hill, Nathaniel Hill, Samuel Frock, and Grace Frock; great-grandchild: Kendall Wilber; siblings: Frank Proulx and his wife Linda of Swanzey, Gary Roy and his wife Teri of Swanzey, Reginald Roy and his significant other Deborah Gould of PA, Jay Roy and his wife Becky of Winchester, Diane Fiorey and her husband Russell of Surry, and Carroll Grant of ME; step-mother: Nancy Roy of Winchester; his beloved miniature poodle: Cookie; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and numerous friends.

He was predeceased by his father Winston A. Roy, Sr., step-father Nelson Proulx, and step-son Daniel Giroux.

In keeping with Winston’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
