Wesley “Sonny” Calvin Eisner, Jr. of Sullivan and formerly of Keene, died Friday morning, September 5, 2014 at Cheshire Medial Center Dartmouth Hitchcock following a period of declining health. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 22, 1927 in Keene, the son of Wesley Calvin and Eva Bell (Waterman) Eisner, Sr. He lived his life in Keene and was a 1947 graduate of Keene High School.
He married Mary “Betty” E. Oja on June 19, 1948 in Keene and was happily married for 50 years.
Mr. Eisner began his career working at New England Box Co. He became a supervisor of medical equipment at Hinkle Manufacturing where he remained until they closed. He then worked at American Optical. Upon retirement, he drove a school bus for Laidlaw which provided him time to lovingly spend with his grandsons.
He was a member and bartender at the Elks Lodge #927 and the Italian Club, both in Keene.
As a young man, Sonny was found racing Car 17 on local speedways while his wife, Betty, proudly cheered for him. Along with NASCAR, the NE Patriots and Red Sox were his favorite sports to watch. While his children were growing up, summers were spent on Granite Lake where he was found happily towing his children and friends on skis. Sonny took pleasure in a good game of cards or Cribbage. He was an avid traveler who especially enjoyed cruises and his winters in Myrtle Beach, SC. In his later years he liked to ‘strut his stuff’ on local dance floors. Most of all, he loved following his son and grandsons on local sports teams. He was the #1 fan.
Mr. Eisner, remembered fondly as “Bump”, was generous, hard-working, fun-loving, family oriented, and meticulous about his home, yard, and cars.
Mr. Eisner is survived by his daughter, Nancy Frazier and her husband, David, of Keene; his grandsons, Tyson “Tyke” Eisner Frazier of Winchester, and Dylan Calvin Eisner of Keene; his companion, J. Lois Jackson of Sullivan; and his older sister, Evelyn O’Donnell of Keene. His wife, Mary E. Eisner, his son, Bruce “Diz” Calvin Eisner, and his grandson, Taylor Eisner Frazier, died earlier.
