He was born on April 17, 1956, in Washington, DC, the son of Allen and Stephanie (Pankewicz) Raymond. As a young man he was a part of the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.
His patriotism started at a very young age, growing-up the son of an Airman, taught him the importance of defending and protecting our nation. He went on to serve in the Air Force for more than twenty years. Through his time in the service and afterward, he was able to see many places in the world. He enjoyed taking pictures of the various adventures that he went on and then would put them into albums and collages.
If one’s life could be summed up by a song, for Steve, it would no doubt be sung by Chicago, as they were one of his favorite bands. He loved listening to music and watching old movies, and was the best at remembering random facts for trivia games. He enjoyed being challenged with word games and anagrams. History came easy to Steve and he always enjoyed taking trips to various historic places, where he always took a photo opportunity.
After retiring from the service he settled in the quiet beauty of Stoddard. The tranquility and peacefulness of the countryside was something that he cherished and he enjoyed being surrounded by nature. He formed lasting friendships with his neighbors and those who were in his community and was always willing to help anyone with a project. He also volunteered at the voting polls.
Steve leaves two sisters, Marylee Raymond-Diamond and her husband, Bob, of Brooklyn, NY and Susan Raymond-Fic of Granby, MA, and their families. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Stephen Fic.
Steve will be honored at the NH Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH, on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 2PM, where he will be laid to rest with others who have so bravely and selflessly served our nation. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 1PM at the Stoddard Town Hall, 1450 NH Route 123 North, Stoddard, NH, for a celebration of Steve’s life.
