Shirley was born in Needham, MA July 18, 1926 to Hazel Dyson Gehling and Daniel Gehling. She later moved to Norwalk, CT where she graduated high school, married Albert, and raised their family. They also lived in Micco, FL before residing in Keene.
Shirley was a wonderful homemaker, gifted needle-crafter and baker. She donated years of service as a Volunteer at Norwalk Hospital.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Shirley is survived by two daughters, Marcia (husband Tom) Ivers of Milford, CT; Nancy Balla of Keene, NH who was her mother’s loving care-giver; her dear son Jim Balla (husband Albert Merola). Also two dear granddaughters, Carol Taylor (husband Charles) of Kent, CT, Christine Menna Pelzar (husband Steve) of Walden, NY, and four wonderful grandsons: Justin Taylor, Evan Taylor, Jared Taylor of Kent, CT and Jack Pelzar of Walden, NY. Shirley also leaves a niece, Linda (husband Gustavo) Vazquez their son and daughter; and a nephew, Roger Gehling, all of Norwalk, CT.
Services for the family were held Nov. 3rd at St. Margaret Mary’s Church, Keene, and then burial in the family plot in Monadnock View Cemetery, also in Keene.
