When Dr. Rose handed this giant 11 pound 9 oz. baby boy to his mother, he said "This one is ready for steak and eggs Pat"!!
Who could have known that this statement at the first moment of his birth would wind up being the metaphor for the life this baby would wind up living. Scott was a big man with a big smile, and with a big appetite for all that life offered him. He had a big personality, a big voice, a big attitude and a big heart for all people that touched him in some way.
Scott worked for his entire life in the commercial roofing industry and had not yet retired- but did see it coming. He had a head full of knowledge about roofing and skills that are a rare find today.
Scott could drive anything, operate anything, and figure out anything on a roof to make it watertight. He possessed a unique talent of being able to be working on the roof as well as managing his crew and all else that was going on -all with a phone constantly ringing.
He had a voice that could be heard two acres away and fearlessness about him.
His career began at The Melanson Company with Uncle Ernie and ended with Jeff at New England WeatherGuard. Scotty worked like a dog and will be irreplaceable at his job, as anyone that worked with him knows.
Scott liked to fish and hunt for short spells, he wasn’t good at sitting quiet and still. He had a huge network of friends. He loved good food, playing cards, classic rock, hanging around the fire drinking beer with friends and telling tall tales into the night.
His greatest love was for his family. They are all avid campers and some of his best times were camping with his wife of 24 years Laura Stone and their two kids Ethan and Sofia Stone.
Scott leaves behind his two children, Ethan and Sofia Stone; his parents Patricia and Ralph Stone; his brother Joe Stone and his wife, Michele, and their family; and his sister Diane Hudon and her husband, Brian, and her family. He has aunts and uncles, sisters-in-law, a mother-in-law and father-in-law that loved him, and more nieces, nephews and cousins that cannot all be named here. His older brother Michael Stone predeceased Scott.
Scott will always be loved by his family and will be seriously missed by all who knew him. It was impossible to be in Scott’s presence and not be creating memorable experiences that we now cherish and depend upon to sustain us in his absence. His loss was sudden, unexpected, tremendous and devastating. It has brought a silence that will never be adjusted to by his family and friends.
Please join us to celebrate Scott’s life on Saturday, September 7, 2024 starting at 11:00am with a memorial and sharing of words of remembrance at the United Church of Christ First Congregational Church UCC, 679 Old Homestead Highway, Swanzey, NH, with a continuation of the celebration of Scott’s life in the fellowship hall at the church, until 3:00pm.
