He was born January 9, 1963 in Teaneck, NJ the son of Robert and Virginia (Feige) Crowl. He was a 1981 graduate of Thayer High school and shortly after graduation he went to work for the Athol Daily News, where he worked for 34 years.
On September 16, 1995 he married the love of his life: Denise Davis. Their years together were filled with laughter, joy and adventure. Scott loved to surround himself with nature: watching the birds, kayaking and spending time in the quiet solitude. He and Denise were members of the Loon Preservation Committee and spent many hours enjoying this magnificent creature in its habitat.
Scott was a perfectionist and believed in doing everything “by the book”. He enjoyed working on cars and was meticulous in his work. His favorite models to work on were Fords and he was especially fond of the ’65 Mustang. If there was something that wasn’t working on a vehicle, chances were good that Scott could fix it.
He was also a very passionate person: especially when it came to the relationships that he forged with friends and the compassion that he showed to those that he cared deeply about. In measure, friends were family and there was nothing that he wouldn’t do for someone who needed his help. His affections also extended to animals, especially his cat: “Nellie”. She had adopted him after several years of being so afraid to bond: he became her forever companion and she greeted him daily with affection and unconditional love. He also loved working with horses, especially those who are in wagon-pulls. He was ready and willing to be in the stables washing, brushing and getting the horses ready for their big events.
Above all, Scott loved his family and was a devoted husband, loving son and beloved brother and uncle. Gatherings of family were some of his favorite times and he always looked forward to being able to make them all laugh.
He is survived by his mother: Virginia Crowl of Greenfield, MA, his father and step-mother: Robert and Toni Crowl of Oxford, MI, his sisters: Jodi Boyd of Westminster, VT and Terri Crowl and her loving companion David LaMar of Springfield, VA, his uncle Bill Feige and his wife Linda, his nephew: Ryan Moore and his wife Melissa of Winchester, NH, his great-nephew: Benson and cousins: Heather, Bill and Amanda. He is also survived by his god-mother: Carol Davis and his dear friend Stephanie Tommila and her husband Carl. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law: Michael Boyd.
A Celebration of Scott's Life will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 4pm at the St. James Church, Federal St. Greenfield, MA. Another Celebration of his life will be scheduled for a later time and will be announced as the time draws closer.
