Sarah Krayone Payne “Oma” 97, of Troy NH was born unto Droh Siah and Sangayon Sahn on March 10, 1927, in Behwaley, Kparblee District, Lower Nimba County, Liberia. She passed on Tuesday April 9th at her home in Troy surrounded by her loving family.
Oma Sarah was survived by her daughter Caroline Lussier of Troy, NH, her sons Daniel Tarwoe of Webster MA, and Jenkins Tarwoe of Fargo, North Dekota. She left behind 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sarah Payne was not educated but her love for education was evident as she sent her daughters Caroline Lussier and the late Esther Deranamie off to Monrovia to live with people for schooling. She was married to the late Cherue D. Tarwoe. Sarah was a farmer, she and her husband had their farmlands in Tappita, Nimba County and later, she had a farm in Behwaley, Nimba County just before the civil war in Liberia.
Sarah was a long-standing member of the Association of Independent Churches of Africa. She was a former member of the United Methodist Church of Rindge, NH. Lastly, was a periodic visitor of the Monadnock Monadnock Bible Baptist Church in Rindge, NH as well as the Keene Baptist Church in Keene, NH until she could no longer go to church due to her physical health.
Sarah loved spending her time watching and playing with her grand and great grandchildren. She loved walking around in town until she could no longer, than she sat on the porch and waved to her neighbors. Visiting friends and family was a thing of great joy for her. She loved to sing, she was very caring and always concerned about the wellbeing of everyone.
Sarah was predeceased by her late Husband Cherue Tarwoe, her children Frank Tarwoe, Benjamin Tarwoe, Esther Deranamie, and her stepsons Paibo Tarwoe and Roland Tarwoe. She was also predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters, making her the last of 12 children in her family.
Sarah Payne “Oma”, will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Monadnock Bible Baptist Church, 210 South Woodbound Road, Rindge, NH, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM at the Church. Burial will take place on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Mt. View Cemetery, North Main Street, Troy, NH.
