Ruth Mabelle Ball

She was born, March 30, 1925, in Keene, the daughter of Ernest and Victoria (Webster) Ball, of Surry, NH. She grew up in and attended elementary school in Surry, and was a 1944 graduate of Keene High School.

She worked at N.E. Telephone Co. as an operator, retiring when the Keene office was closed.

She was a member of the Cheshire County Historical Society, the Keene Senior Center and the Association of BellTel Retirees. She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She had a companion, her cat named Honey, for many years.

For years she organized monthly luncheons with her siblings. She enjoyed family gatherings for Christmas and reunions.

She is survived by her two brothers: William L. Ball and his companion, Joan Bora of Cranston, RI, and Samuel M. Ball and his wife Julia of Farmington, CT; seven sisters: Elizabeth A. Ball of Elmira, NY, Lois V. Porter of Keene, Shirley R. Dunton of Seville, FL, Gertrude A. Haynes and her husband Paul of Swanzey, Patricia A Faria of Keene, Edith J. Hasbrouck and her husband William of Gilsum and Judith Currier of Winchendon, MA; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers and sisters in law: Ernest W and his wife Althea Ball and Herbert W and his wife Alice Ball; a brother John H Ball; two sisters: Sarah J. Ball and Geraldine E. Witoshynsky.

At Ruth’s request, there will be no public calling hours or services. A private burial will be held at the Surry Village Cemetery.
