He was born in Rockville Centre, NY on July 10, 1936, the son of Cecelia Rose Tully and Robert Burr Wiggin.
Robert graduated with his Master’s Degree in education, from NYS College in 1960.
Upon graduation, Robert taught high school math at Brookline High School in MA from 1961 – 1996. During the later years he became chairperson and head of the math department. Upon retiring, Robert still had a passion to teach and taught at Mesietta High School in MA, from 1998-2008. His passion was teaching math and preparing his students for life studies after high school.
Robert developed his love of the ocean during his many visits to his grandfather, Burr Wiggin’s house on Long Island, where he would frequently go out on the boats with his grandfather, exploring the beautiful waters.
He is survived by his five children, Sharon Wiggin Alvarado, Duane Wiggin, Glenn Wiggin, Teresa Wiggin and Christopher Wiggin; eleven grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his two former wives, Margaret Chizmadia Pierce and Caroline Evans. In his words “God blessed him many times over”.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 11:00AM in St. Bernard Church, 185 Main Street, Keene. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 10:00AM to 10:30AM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
