Bob was born on December 8, 1927, son of Irene and Neil Vermouth. He was raised in Keene, attended Keene schools, and UNH before entering the Air Force in 1946. Returning from the service he married Esther Yost and joined the family business as the treasurer of Neil Vermouth, Inc. He lived a happy and successful life. A dedicated husband and father, he will be missed by all.
Bob was an accomplished pianist, playing in orchestras throughout high school and college. Music made up a significant part of his life in playing for friends, family and personal enjoyment, regularly attending the symphony, musicals, and local musical events.
As a dedicated and active Lions Club member he had perfect attendance for 63 years. He rose through the offices to President of the Keene Club and again in the St Augustine, Florida Lions Club during retirement where he was honored multiple times for his excellence in leadership in the building of the club. He earned the Melvin Jones Award as well as numerous state and local awards as writer, editor and photographer of the weekly Lions newsletter.
Bob’s religious faith was important to him throughout his life. He was a dedicated and active member of the United Church of Christ. Once he was unable to attend the Sunday services in person he listened to the weekly services broadcast over the radio.
Sailing on the coast of Maine, Spofford Lake, and in Florida was a favorite lifelong passion along with photography leaving years of treasured family and travel photos.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Esther, of 67 years, daughter Linda of Keene, Diana of Colorado, William and his wife Lauren of Spofford, his grandchildren: Lindsey and Jack as well as two nephews: Paul of MA and Jon of CO.
A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Christ in Keene this Sunday, October 2nd at 1 PM followed by a gathering in the Ladies Parlor.
