Robert Sidney Plummer

He was born on July 31, 1926 in Swanzey, the son of Sadie (Phillips) Plummer. He attended area schools and completed his high school education.

On November 29, 1946 he married Emma LaPlante. Together they celebrated nearly 60 years happily married before her passing.

After high school Robert worked for himself as a logger. He spent a period working for Homestead Woolen Mill in Swanzey as well. For many years, up until his retirement, he was employed by Sprague and Carlton. After retirement Robert spent his days doing work he truly loved with horses on a farm.

Robert was an outdoorsman by nature. He enjoyed being in the solitude of nature whether he was hiking or chopping wood. He loved rides on the old back roads and had a passion for tractors, farm life, and woodworking. He was an extremely hard worker, a dedicated family man, and an active member in the Westport Church.

Robert leaves behind his children: Mary Plummer of Jaffrey, NH, Rose Judd of Pittsfield, NH, Pansy Russell of Keene, NH, Sidney Plummer of Tucson, AZ, William LaPlante of Utah, and Henry Plummer and his wife Kathleen of Keene, NH; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church members, and friends. He will be dearly missed.

He was predeceased by and will be united again with his wife: Emma Plummer; children: Gilbert Plummer and June Ford; mother: Sadie Holton; step-father: Charles Holton; and sister: Sylvia VanBrocklin.

Family and friends are invited to call at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 29 at 6:00 pm.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery, Pine Street, Swanzey, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made in Robert’s name to the Westport Church, 109 Westport Village Road, Swanzey, NH 03446.
